These instructions assume the crafter knows the basics of sewing.

Directions for making a pillow that will fit this pattern:

Materials:

1/2 yd red velvet

1 yd fusible interfacing, med. weight

Polyester Stuffing

Pencil or other pointed tool.

Usual sewing needs; scissors, ruler, pins, iron, ironing board, matching thread, sewing machine, etc

1) Cut two pieces of velvet, 17" x 12". Cut two pieces of fusible interfacing the same size. Following manufacturer's instructions, fuse interfacing to wrong side of each piece of velvet.

2) Pin the two pieces of velvet together, right sides facing. Make sure the nap of the velvet is going the same way on each piece. Sew pieces together, leaving an opening on one long side large enough to put your fisted hand through.

3) Turn the pillow right side out. Use a pencil or other pointed tool to push out corners. Fill pillow with polyester stuffing, making sure there's plenty of stuffing in the corners. Hand sew opening closed using matching red thread.

4)Fringe the design as you would a bookmark, about 1/2". Center the cross stitched design on the front of the pillow. Pin in place. Using one strand of the same color floss as the stitched design, sew it to the pillow along the cross stitched border as shown below. (The green lines represent the stitching to the pillow.)
